huffingtonpost.com/jeff-biggers/
Jeff Biggers is an award wining author of Reckoning at Eagle Creek: The Secret Legacy of Coal in the Heartland, The United States of Appalachia, and In the Sierra Madre. His blogs mostly consist of stories about Civil rights, history in the making and the violations of humane rights and pointing out the truth of the Government in the U.S.
Jeff Biggers is always voicing the silenced voices and the right side of the story. When I read his blog I always feel pleased to see that he is voicing the truth. He backs his stories up with facts and events. It's the truth that everyone seeks, and the truth everyone should know.
"The questions beg:: Have the extremist Arizona politicians and their Tea Party supporters gone too far in their witch hunt of the Ethnic Studies Program, and at what point will the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice be summoned for an investigation?"
"Abie, pronounced A-B, believes in applying the tools of math, science, and rational thinking to controversial issues such as politics and religion, and hopes that one day policy will be evidence-based."

David A. Morales
David A. Morales is the man behind Three Sonorans blog posts. The news being put out is mostly about Arizona and the continuing struggle.
Three Sonorans always is up to date on the Ethnic Studies battle, such as laws like HB 2281 (a law that bans Ethnic Studies from being taught in the Tucson Unified School District). It is always very informative and it never leaves me hanging or confused. I rely on this blog not just because of the information, but the amount of work that's put in it to keep it un-biased.
Gwaker
Gwaker has everything from music, gossip and actual news. It serves as a good web page to visit if you just want to roam random stories and actually get something out of it.
I like it because it has a little of everything. I am the kind of person that likes reading critical stories but at the same time I like to know about Music. This web blog gives me the option to see either of the two.
"It seemed impossible that Adele could make "Someone Like You" from her billion-selling album 21 sadder than it already was. But the British singer has done it with her new video, above. In black and white, she takes a solitary walk in the most romantic city in the world and sings about confronting a love she'll have to overcome."
The Daily Beast
The Daily Beast was founded in 2008 and used for breaking news and sharp commentary. It is full of news and information that can be accessed 24/7
What I liked about this blog is all of the news and stories it has posted. There is current news about Occupy Wall St. and news that actually matters. It isn't clustered, it is very organized and I can navigate without a problem or without getting frustrated.
"The financial industry has been moving away from downtown New York—and out of America—for years. If anything, these angry, ill-informed, purposeless protesters should be marching on Washington, says Stephen Carter."
Mashable
Mashable covers all around information. Not just news but technology and how it affects the the society or world we live in. This site is pretty handy and can give you a lot of information and doing what media does best; informs.

Top Stories!
Can it Ever Get Better?
Last week Sunday, a child by the name Jamey Rodemeyer took his own life. 14 year old Jamey was bullied and harassed for being Gay. His bullying went beyond and got worse to the point where his formspring (a social network that let's you post comments/questions anonymously to the user) was even being used as a way to harass him. Jamey made a video called "It Gets Better" where he explains how he struggled and how Lady Gaga Has helped him love who he is.
Now the thing is this, is your child a bully, do parents know that their child bullies another kid? Also, should there be a law criminalizing bullying as hate crime? Jame Rodemeyer and Lady Gaga
Abuse of Power, World Wide.
Imagine if one day you see your son and the next moment you're receiving his body. A body wit h two gunshots to the chest, one to the shoulder, one through the mouth, with broken arms and cigarette burns on the face. Then soon after, you get a call that your daughters mutilated body is at the morgue. Her body cut in four pieces, and taking a life of an innocent person.
This video and article explain what Syria is going through, since the slaying of a son and the mutilation of a daughter. This is perfect example of how dangerous it is to be right, when the government is wrong.
Don't You Have A Heart?
“If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they've been brought there by no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart.”-Rick Perry
By far, I am surprised that a "Conservative" from Texas would say something like this, because the right wing always gives you the negative. For those who don't know, Perry spent his first six years in politic as a Democrat. Now the controversy here is him not explaining what he meant correctly. The use of "I don't think you have a heart" is being looked down upon. Although, he could've explained better, ask your self what is the real issue here? Immigration or trusting someone like Rick Perry who obviously doesn't know to what political party to stick to. Or maybe we should pay attention to both and compare and contrast.
Wall Street Occupation.
| (C)John W. Cohoen |
Non-Violent Civil Disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government, or of an occupying international power. The act refrains from any violent or anything that can be dangerous to others.
No Border Wall!
It is very ironic to me that the Government has commanded the building of a border to keep the U.S safe. Arguments always consist of false accusations or over generalization: they come into our country to steal jobs, harm our people or cause crime. But, do they not pay attention to the fact that their own border causes hundreds of deaths? Are they too greedy or too prideful to share what America has got to offer. Migrants help the economy very much because of their hardworking attitudes and whiling to make money the right way. So why not BURN THE BORDER AND MELT THE ICE?

I Am Troy Davis.
Troy Davis was executed yesterday at 11:00 P.M eastern in the state of Georgia. Troy was charged for a crime he didn't do. Despite the fact that 7 of the 9 witnesses changing their testimonies and the constant protests, occupations and petition signing to stop the execution, nothing worked. While you read this article, remember about Casey Anthony case. How white privilege is still an ongoing thing today and innocent people struggle everyday.

Journalism and the world.
Last week In journalism class a guy by the name Dylan Smith came into my class as a guest speaker. Dylan Smith is the editor of tucsonsentenial.com. He came to talk about what it is like as a journalist. He explained how the job of an editor and journalist is.
It was quite interesting to hear that all of the work he does is basically volunteer. They rely on their savings and donations for themselves and Thierry site. He said that it's about getting the truth out. Somebody has got to do it and that's why he is passionate for his work.
I respect the work of all of the journalist who seek to reveal the truth. Hearing Dylan Smith speak about it made me realize; it's not just about writing and getting views, it's about the truth that a lot of people won't tell.
It was an honor having Dylan Smith speak to us about his job. Visit the web page TucsonSentinel

Targeting he who targets you.

I feel like this is very self explanatory on what's going on with Social Security. This stuck out to me because I find this quite funny and very true, because it is time to target those like Rick Perry. Rick Perry targets Social Security, then citizens target you. In my opinion I can see the elderly man as a hero in this cartoon, because he know's what is going on and well, of course, he is not too happy about it. Here's a link to the Home Page page of the Political Cartoon.
Does Stegeman have the right to be hurt?
Video Caption: Ex-board President Mark Stegeman discussing how he feels about being shunned by the democrats. Take a look and see who TUSD has demoted because of his actions and failed leadership.
What is a democrat, what is the definition and does Ex-Board President Stegeman deserve the right to call himself a democrat?
Dem-o-crat (n): a person who believes in and practices the principle of equality of rights, opportunity, and treatment.
Stegeman categorizes himself as a democrat, but his actions have not been at all democratic. Unlike Michael Hicks (who is a member of the Tucson Unified School Districts Governing Board) who expresses his conservative views, Stegeman hides them. Instead of trying to preserve the Mexican American Studies program he chooses to find ways to destroy them. Not only is he: Violating international human rights but he is dismantling a successful program. A true democrat would see that the preservation of a class that teaches cultural history, and boosts up the graduation rate, is a good idea. Not only that but realizes that it’s education and that as a democrat, he takes in mind what the students want. Yes, students because it is their school district and their education. Mark Stegeman is now being shunned by other democrats for the approaches he has taken against the Latino community and his failed leadership.
